Campuses and companies need to quickly notify students, faculty, and employees in the event of a developing situation. Whether it’s a message on inclement weather, planned network outages, or an emergency, SafeConnect can dramatically reduce response time.
The Clery Act, part of the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) includes a requirement for complete notification of an entire campus community within a reasonable and timely manner (previously cited as 30 minutes).
SafeConnect ’s Broadcast Messaging module can help you meet that requirement. And because SafeConnect operates in real-time, you can deliver messages in real-time to everyone accessing the network.
The module allows you to send an on-demand message, or you can create canned messages that are ready to be sent at any time – for planned activities (such as network outages) or generic situations (such as bad weather or water main break). You can also authorize specific messages to be sent directly by the campus Police or Fire Department so time is not lost contacting network managers.
Once the message is sent, the user’s computer default Web browser is automatically opened in the forefront of the screen. Anyone actively connected to the network at the time the message is sent will see it within seconds. For those not actively on-line, the message will appear once the computer is turned on.
A sample on-demand broadcast message informing students of a planned network maintenance is shown here.
