Impulse Point's Safe•Connect NAC Uses 92 Percent Less Energy than Legacy NAC

TAMPA, FL, April 17, 2008 –Impulse Point, provider of the most scalable network access control solution for large enterprise networks, announced today that Safe•Connect uses considerably less power to manage users than other NAC solutions due to its scalable architecture. In side-by-side comparisons of energy consumption, Safe•Connect uses 92.9 percent less energy than Legacy NAC systems.

"Safe•Connect can provide network access control for 10,000 users on a single appliance," explains Karl Muehlberger, Chief Operating Officer of Impulse Point. "Legacy NAC solutions need 12 or more appliances to support a similar end user environment. The scalability advantages of Safe•Connect simply equate to a more energy efficient and cost-effective solution."

Based on the U.S. Department of Energy's March 2008 report that the average retail price of electricity is 8.98 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh), Safe•Connect costs an average of $775.92 a year to operate and cool. Comparatively, Legacy NAC solutions requiring multiple and redundant appliances can cost nearly $11,000 a year in energy costs alone.

Boston, MA, January 21, 2008 – Impulse Point, provider of the most scalable network access control solution for large enterprise networks, and Gordon College, announced today that Safe•Connect has been successfully deployed to provide endpoint security policy management for students, faculty, and guests across the campus.

Gordon College chose Impulse Point's Safe•Connect NAC after an extensive review process involving several competing NAC vendor alternatives. Among the requirements considered by Gordon College when selecting Safe•Connect was the product's ability to be easily deployed and managed by limited IT staff. The solution also had to be certified and interoperable with Gordon College's 100% Alcatel-Lucent network infrastructure.

Stockton, CL, October 2, 2007 – Impulse Point, provider of the most scalable network access control solution for large enterprise networks, and the University of the Pacific, announced today that the broadcast messaging component of the Safe•Connect NAC solution will be used as one of the methods to notify students and faculty at the University of the Pacific of an emergency situation.

Recent proposed amendments to the Clery Act (a part of the Higher Education Act) require complete notification of an entire campus community within 30 minutes of an emergency. The University of the Pacific is instituting several methods of communication, including text messaging and email announcements in addition to the ability to automatically display web-based broadcast messages delivered by the Impulse Point Safe•Connect system.

Kingston, RI, May 23, 2007 – Impulse Point, provider of the most scalable network access control solution for large enterprise networks, and the University of Rhode Island, announce today that the Safe•Connectt� NAC solution is being deployed in residential and administrative areas of the University, providing the capability to manage 20,000 devices simultaneously.
